The Transparent Factory at the northern corner of the Great Garden on the former exhibition building is a unique and ultra-modern car factory of Volkswagen AG. Under the architect Gunter Henn, a VW factory was built in 2002 specifically for the assembly of luxury cars. Thanks to the transparent outer façade, customers, Dresden citizens and tourists can see into the production process through the glass walls. VW sees the factory as a "world of experience", and so there is also a restaurant, driving simulators and a spherical cinema. In addition, the Transparent Factory offers its visitors further highlights in an experience centre with exhibitions and other events.
